I have tried several different tuts on this in the past few months and have no luck at all!! I can get text to go around the top of the curve just fine BUT when I try to put text underneath a circle it is backwards or upside down! I am so frustrated! I've had others help me in the past but, for some reason, I'm just not 'getting it'!! Any one care to try to help me again??? :pu:

Barbara, Suz Shook has very nice tuts divided up in to tuts by version.  Here's the link to her main site.  Look for the Version 8 tuts on the side.  She has a text on a curve tut.

A little confused here? does writing on the top of a curve not achieve the same result as if it was written underneath?

With PSP X you can you use OffSet and move the text up or down with the curve as the starting point.

The tut I always used is on this site
http://www.state-of-entropy.com/

It is in the list of tuts for v. 6, but the principle is the same in all versions where the problem occurs, and this is an easy tut to follow.

This one did it for me. Easy to see how it was done. Just to show you (this is definitely not a 'keeper').........

Looks great, Barbara!  I always have to hunt up a tut when I want to do that myself.  It isn't something I do often enough to remember.  And yes, there are some differences in versions.  I was doing the one for V8 (I have V9) and it said to use a minus 1000 for leading to get it below the curve.  I couldn't do that as leading only went +/- 10.00 for my version.  Finally went to the V9 tut she has and found the Offset which accomplished the same thing as the leading.  Also had to convert the object to a path for the "Reverse" thing on the node to work.  The reverse was grayed out until I did a convert to path first.  Maybe it was something else goofy I did. LOL!

She really explained it simpler than the others and the graphics she showed did the trick! Thanks again. Now, I'll have to do something more serious with it than the 'jicky' name I did above.

(Jicky= new technical term) :ba:

*adds Jicky to her book of new terms by iluvtolaff* ;)

Yes, working with a vector line can be frustrating at first but it does get easier. The more you understand the more you will be able to munipulate your lines anyway you want.

Alot of the tutorials out there should read : Text around a circle , to avoid the confusion into thinking text on a path which to me means any other kind of line other then a complete circle. lol So for someone wanting to learn on how to work with text on a curve line would end up in confusion easily.

Great job btw! I always know when I get stuck that the plus rescue team will come a runnin to save my sanity in one way or another. hehe.

It is a very proper word I have been using for years. It is invaluable in technical descriptions and discussions. How else can you explain what is wrong with your car to a mechanic? 'The thingy shaped like a saucepan is a bit loose' to which he replies 'Ah, the air filter needs tightening.' Letting him grub around in the engine at £30 per hour, searcdhing for a rattle with no guidance, is far too expensive. (It may be more than £30 per hour now. I haven't driven for 2 years.)  I actually had that conversation with a nechanic some years ago.
:lol3:
