When I logged on this morning, Quick time was opening  all my Image files.

When I clicked on the restore button, it was still all Quick Time.

I have them all changed but the Animation ones. Quick Time is still opening it. What is the Windows Default for Animations? Is it Windows Fax Viewer?

What is it called in the Folder Options File?

I have found the gif and changed that.

I use Xp.

Thanks

My animations open in Windows Fax Viewer Judy.

Not sure what you mean by the Folder Option File.

I had the same problem with Quicktime when I installed it, it grabbed every file association and wouldn't let me change them.  I unchecked the file extensions in QT and applied but it still changed them.  At the moment I have uninstalled QT.

The Folder Option File is what it's called in the Control Panel. In mine anyway.

My son was doing something with Quicktime last night. I can't stand anything being different on the computer.

I can't find the Animation one in The File option Folder, I need to change. I found gif, jpeg, tiff etc. I don't know what I'm looking for.

I even had my psp read the animation file., then went back to the Foldr option file. Still couldn't find it.

If I send someone an animation, if Psp opens it for me. Will they be able to open it?

Sorry to be so dense.

Finally have it fixed. Famous last words!!:lol3:

Judy go to one of your animation files on your computer, right click on it and scroll to "open with".  When the box pops up scroll down to Windows Fax Viewer and click  All animations should then open in that.

Quicktime is veeeery sneaky like that. It likes to change file associations when you use it.  A program like WinPatrol (There's a free version.) will alert you when such a change tries to happen and ask if you want to accept it. If you don't, just say, "No". :)  This may help prevent the problem in the future if someone again uses Quicktime on your computer.

Edit: That is IF you remind your son to not accept those changes.

Thanks. My son is old enough to know better but he'd forget!! He has an Ipod and I'm assuming he needs Quick Time for it.

It drives me absolutely mad when something gets changed on my computer.

What he needs is his own Computer.:)

Yes, but if a big box pops up in the middle of the screen with an alert: "Quicktime has reclaimed file associations. Do you want to accept these changes?" he'd remember pretty quickly that you do not want them changed.
