Back on challenge 286, BarbM made a comment about wishing she could gold real looking in response to an image I created. Then Barbara said something this challenge about wanting to know how to create gold.

I had posted this at the close of challenge 286 to give you some ideas to create gold. I don't know how I created the gold look on the cattails, but I probably used polished stone effects on top of something else.

Here is part of what I said on how to create some decent looking gold from my post on March 30th.

Change the numbers on the chrome settings below until you like what you see. Start with a white object (text, etc.) then use the inner bevel followed by chrome. Or leave off the chrome and play with polished stone effects. I spend an enormous amount of time trying different things.

Thank you sooooo much.  I don't have BP installed and I am lost at making metal effects.

Barbara, try adding some lighting to your cup.

The lighting really did add to it, great job, Barbara and Nan!

Don't be afraid to move those sliders around, Barbara. Also, try using sculpture effects on top of the bevel effect.

This is after using Lighting>Yellow Fill, then Lighting>Fill Flash, then Sculpture>Gold
Might have overdone it! haha!!

If you were going for an artsy type sculpture painting in one of those high class art galleries this would fit perfect. There really is no wrong or right way it's all in the "look" your going for. So yes it would be -overdone- to achieve the more realistic look from above.

Bravo ladies. Nicely done. :)

Thanks Donna...I've been very busy again looking after my hubby so haven't had much time to 'play' but I wrote it down and will soon.:_

You are welcome, BarbM, hope you get to play again soon!

Barbara, I like Sajy's words of wisdom of no wrong or right way. Keep playing, there's no telling what you might discover!
