I tried following this simple tut but when I got to the part "choose Convert to Seamless Pattern" I couldn't find it under "Selections" menu or anywhere else. Any help would be appreciated! CREATING SEAMLESS PATTERNS So you've created a wonderful texture and you'd like to put it on your Windows desktop or use it as a background on your Web site. The problem is that when you try to use it, there are separation lines everywhere! Here's what you need to do. Make the new image size large--about 200 x 200 pixels. Next, grab the Shapes selection tool. In the Tool control, set it at Square, no Feather, and no Antialias. Starting from the top-left portion of the image, 50 pixels in from the corner, click and drag out the square. (The square should be about 50 pixels away on all corners.) If you get too close to the edges, Paint Shop Pro will not create a seamless pattern. Now go to the Selections menu and choose Convert To Seamless Pattern. This will open a copy of your background, which is seamless. To test this, open a new image set at 200 x 200 pixels and Floodfill it with your pattern. Voila!--you should see no seams.

Barbara are you using PSP8 or PSP9? If so go to Effects/Image effects/seamless tiling.

The tutorial you're trying would work in PSP 7 but I don't think it will work in the later versions. The Seamless Tiling works differently.

Thanks for that Nanson, I haven't used it myself, just looked for the tools in 8&9

There's some interesting examples for using the Seamless Tile at Camp Ratty. http://campratty.com/8/8pages/8p03.html

Thanks for the help/suggestions. I was able to use Effects>Image>Offset to achieve the seamless pattern. It worked real good.

Barbara, it's not native to PSP, but have you used the Quick Tile option in the Simple Filters? I use it all the time. It's easier than doing it using PSP's tile option. If you don't have that set of filters (and they're all wonderful), here's a link: http://www.btinternet.com/~cateran/simple/

A while ago I had the same problem and found this tutorial at Visual Sonnets. She offers a alpha channel selection download to help you create a perfect tiling image. I had tried all the filters I usually use without success.
