We have a Market Hall, with 3 shops selling gifts, t-shirts, mugs etc. - everything from a cuddly teddy to a kitchen clock, a mouse mat to a doggy jacket, with different designs in each shop. Do have a look if you haven't visited it.

THE MARKET HALL

Yes, but they are not enormous. We got $28 dollars in 2003, since when we have accumulated $4 - they pay out when your commission is $25 or more - so it may be some years before we get another cheque.D_

Well now...

I think I want to get a coffee mug.  We have quite a collection here and I could use a new one for my desk to hold pens and stuff.

Not really. We have the free shops because it would make no sense for us to pay for the shop itself as we are trying to use it to defray some of our costs in the site.  With a free shop you can only have one of each item in your shop. We already have three shops which we link together to make it look like one shop, so basically we have three sets of graphics, with a couple of extra ones which we use for things  like Christmas goodies.

What it amounts to is that we should have to get a whole new shop to introduce one extra graphic. There is a lot of work work involved in setting up a shop - every item has to be priced so that we get some commission, and although you can opt for the same markup on everything, that doesn't work in practice because of the wide range of prices and the need to relate the markup to the cost of each item, so it takes a long time to price everything. And then you have to set the position and size of the graphic on each item so the whole graphic is printed and nothing is cut off.

I also suspect we should be in trouble if we try to have many more free shops. We set ours up way back when the free shops were the norm. Since they set up the paid shops they are more strict about the free ones.
