One hippo in the water, and its mate wallowing in the mud on the shore. I was thinking of the old Flanders and Swann song about hippos
'Mud, mud, glorious mud,
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood.
So follow me follow
Down to the hollow,
And there let us wallow
In glorious mud'.
This is supposed to be Africa, rather than an English safari park. The trees - acacias and baobobs - and the yellowish grass and dried looking shrubs beyond the waterhole are typical of African landscape.

| I love them. I haven't heard of the song. I saw Hippo's at Toronto Zoo one year. There was a baby and it was so sweet.

| That's neat Carol. When he's done wallowing in the mud, he can get into the water and wash it all off.

That's exactly what they do. They get really muddy and let it dry, then get back in the water to wash it off. It's just like a face pack for us and keeps their skin in good order.
