Here are the results of my first two lessons. I found the interface to be very user friendly for a beginner. Then once I got the basics, I did have to dig a bit deeper and read the manual to which unleashed a whole other world and lots of powerful features that I can't wait to dive more into!

Thought I would share my progress. It isn't much. The first one was learning how to morph clothing and props, while the second one was adding a new camera angle with custom lighting.

Well done Sajy.  The camera is the bit I found very confusing and you did great.

Well done, Sajy. It was arranging limbs I found so difficult. If you take a look at a pic called The Lovers that you will find here

http://www.caroluk.org/gallery/page27.html

you will see that the couple look fine from the back, but if you could see them from the front, the girl's left arm disappears into her abdomen at the elbow and her hand and wrist re-emerge from her rib cage, just above her heart. It was ages before you could view my people from all sides. Even now I often make odd bits of a person invisible to prevent knees from poking through evening dress skirts, toes bursting through shoes, or bosoms tearing through a tight fitting top. And all my babies are girls, because if I put a nappy (diaper) on a boy the result is very unseemly.

Your fairy is beautifully posed and elegant, and your lighting superb.  Keep up the good work!

Thanks kindly ladies. I did find the lighting to be very advanced. Unless your a professional photographer or actively pursuing a career in such, the guides are definately not that easy to follow for a real beginner when it came to camera adjustments, angles and lighting. I find that if one is to study objects around the house at different times of the day and pay close attention to light details and reflections you start to vision and then through practice the lighting shouldn't be that intimidating. It's almost the same as when your working on a graphic and you want that shadow in the right place. You know that it doesn't look right if the light reflection is bouncing off an angle and you have the shadow to deep or not enough you just know by looking at it that it just doesn't seem right. This is how I am playing around with the lighting in Daz.

Judy the program is 100% free. Follow the links Carol provided. I really like the fact that we can incorprate our own characters, skins, textures, makeup, clothes, props, etc. into the program and work with them. You can even animate if you get really good. lol This is my ultimate goal.

Thanks. I downloaded the free one but I'm waiting for my activation to get the serial number. Don't think I'll get too far with it as I have little patience.

I was lucky about lighting. I did over 10 years in theatrical lighting at the Loft Theatre in Leamington Spa, and I arrange and light all my images as though they were a stage scene. It may sound odd, but if you can find a book about stage lighting in your local library, you might find it would help.

Thanks for the suggestion Carol. I was actually just talking about that earlier on maybe looking in the library or my local book store here which I frequent alot on that topic of lighting and such but wasn't sure where to begin. I will definately give that a try.

Judy I got my activation code right away. It was automatically entered when I confirmed my email address. Hope you get a chance to have a go at it.
